Register Why should you join the Alumni Chapter? The Alumni Chapter has three objectives, as stated on the home page. While a large part of our efforts are focused on helping the Undergraduate Chapter, we are equally committed to offering value to our alumni members. Beta Omicron alumni have achieved success in many fields, and our Alumni Chapter aims to allow each alumni to easily tap into the vast pool of experience and advice in our alumni network. Through our online database, you’ll be able to easily find contact information for brothers you went to school with, or those who live in your area (or an area to which you’re relocating), or those who have experience with a company or industry that you’re looking to join. Our alumni network is a valuable resource for all of us, and we think that this alone is a powerful incentive for registering. Importantly, registering and becoming a dues-paying member provides the key financial support that allow us to keep our organization vibrant and fund our programs. Phi Kaps was a memorable experience for most of us, and our support of the Undergraduate Chapter is a way for us all to ensure that those positive experiences are made available to others. What do I get for my annual dues? For the 2005 year, the Executive Committee has established dues at $100. This is really a suggested giving level, and all donations, large and small, are welcomed and very much appreciated! As a bonus for supporting the chapter through your dues payment, you’ll receive a “members discount” for all social events like the annual Phi Kap golf tourney in Richmond. Most importantly, you’ll receive the psychic income of being part of the Beta Omicron revitalization effort, helping to restore the chapter to the top of the Greek world at Virginia Tech! Why does the registration form ask for so much information? We are trying to make the alumni database a useful tool for all of us, not just to connect and reminisce, but to provide contacts for those times in life that we could use some knowledgeable advice. Obvious examples would be changing jobs or careers, relocating to a new area, trying to help a son or daughter get a summer job, etc. We also have included a check box for you to select if you are willing to discuss your career and/or company with an undergraduate or alumni brother. We think that establishing a “career consulting” activity between the undergraduates and the alumni will provide a tangible benefit to joining Phi Kaps and be a powerful rush tool for the undergraduates. By checking this box you are merely agreeing to take a phone call from a brother interested in hearing about your experiences. You can uncheck the box at any time by editing your information on the website. The fields about your employment history are trying to provide some basic information that can be used in searching the database for brothers with relevant experience.
